Michal Poliak is one of the most expressive persons in the Czech Republic dance scene. He is respected not only as a DJ, but as a talented producer at home and abroad.
Michal's DJ career began after moving to Canada in 2001, where he played at many local illegal parties. Michal soon acquainted himself with the influential DJ Preach, who taught him mixing techniques in his free time. Michal immediately began playing abroad, something many DJ's aim, but fail to do. Michal's first gig after his return to the Czech republic took place in Club Fabric in Ostrava. He won recognition as a promoter as well, organizing the very successful club nights "Amnesia“ and "Insomnia“ in Club Laguna, in his hometown, Breclav. Many promoters of the best clubs noticed Michal's talent which led to more performances in clubs such as Paradogs, Fabric, Bobycentrum, Barumba and many more. In 2003 Michal became resident of one of the biggest indoor actions, Citadela. His name started to appear on the line ups of other big parties such as Antistatic, Ibiza, Observer and Stereodome.
He and his Canadian colleague, Preach, took part in a tour around the Balcan states, performing in Bulgaria, Kosovo and Croatia. They went back to Canada in the autumn, where they performed together at the mega halloween party, "Gloom,“ which took place at a historic castle in mountains of Quebec.
The following year was very successful for Michal when he became resident of more clubs including the "O´Seex" Club in the "Brno and Bluck" club in Breclav. He also performed in Austria, Slovenia and Croatia. Two years later, Michal was regularly performing at major parties such as "Imperium," and "Hradhouse,“ showcasing his typical funky sound. Michal revisited Canada where he played at the "Cube" club in Quebec and spent time with DJ Preach, who explained the basis of music production.
Michal devoted himself intensely to production and his first tracks appeared on the compilation for Citadela, "Citadela Vibe III." Michal was inspired by Bryan Cox, Brazilian artist Wehbba, Mojad, Peppelino and Len Faki. Michal's focus was on colourful composition of sound, melodic and energetic rhythms.
Michal's first record, the "Phantom EP," was released in conjunction with DJ Orbith in 2006. It was very successful and aroused media interest. He then produced a bootleg of hit "Crazy“ by Gnarls Barkley with DJ Preach which became an immediate success with support from the likes of Paul van Dyk.
After more successful releases, Michal released another independent record "World Republic,“ with remixes by the Filterheadz and Elton D. Many foreign stars noticed this record and confirmed Michal´s indisputable talent. Carl Cox expressed his support for the record and included it his BBC Radio One Essential mix.
In 2007, Michal had another breakthrough in his career, joining the team and organizing the biggest Czech indoor event, "Apokalypsa." Michal also became resident of clubs such as "Stare Lazne" (Kolin), "7 Nebe" (Brno) and "Jet" (Lovosice).
